PSA applied the long-disused Talbot nameplate to its former Simca and Rootes Group products, and—presto!—Matra became Talbot-Matra. Although the new alignment in theory gave the Murena's engineers access to a new array of engines, Matra would be forced to settle for two former Simca designs: a 1,592-cc OHV four and a 2,155-cc SOHC four.
